Washington DC – The Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Rwanda to the United States, Ambassador Mathilde Mukantabana, joined fellow African ambassadors and representatives of the African Union in hosting a reception in Washington, D.C., to commemorate Africa Day, bringing together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, members of the African diaspora, and friends of Africa to celebrate the continent’s achievements and its growing partnership with the United States.
The event was held as African nations marked 63 years of sovereignty and unity since the founding of the Organization of African Unity, now the African Union, while the United States prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence.
