KIGALI, Rwanda — The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), working in partnership with the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington, D.C., has launched a call for proposals from qualified firms interested in promoting Rwanda’s tourism sector across key markets in the Americas.
According to the announcement, the initiative seeks experienced tourism marketing and representation companies capable of enhancing Rwanda’s visibility and strengthening its presence in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. The selected firms will play a key role in supporting Rwanda’s efforts to attract more international visitors, build relationships with travel industry stakeholders, and showcase the country’s unique tourism offerings.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) is part of Rwanda’s broader strategy to expand its global tourism footprint and increase awareness of the country as a premier travel destination. Rwanda has gained international recognition for its mountain gorilla conservation programs, luxury eco-tourism experiences, national parks, cultural heritage attractions, and growing conference and events sector.
Through this partnership, tourism representation firms will be expected to support market development activities, strengthen engagement with tour operators and travel agencies, coordinate promotional campaigns, and help position Rwanda as a leading destination for leisure, business, and adventure travelers.

The United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil are considered important source markets for international tourism growth, offering opportunities to attract new visitors and increase tourism-related investment. Rwanda has continued to diversify its tourism products while investing in conservation, hospitality infrastructure, and destination marketing to appeal to a wider global audience.
The Rwanda Development Board noted that interested firms should demonstrate proven experience in tourism marketing, destination representation, public relations, and business development within the travel industry. Organizations with strong networks across the targeted markets are encouraged to apply.
Officials said the initiative reflects Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding awareness of the country’s tourism opportunities throughout North and South America. Interested firms have until June 22, 2026, to submit their proposals for consideration.
Tourism remains one of Rwanda’s most important economic sectors, contributing to employment, foreign exchange earnings, conservation efforts, and sustainable development. Through strategic international representation, Rwanda aims to further increase visitor arrivals and reinforce its reputation as one of Africa’s leading tourism destinations.
