KIGALI – The Inspector General of Rwanda Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye, delivered a keynote address on the third day of the Operation Usalama Comprehensive Review Meeting, currently underway in Kigali.
Operation Usalama is an annual law enforcement operation supported by INTERPOL that spans Eastern and Southern Africa. The initiative targets a range of transnational crimes, including human trafficking, terrorism, and the trade in counterfeit goods.
In his address, CG Namuhoranye reaffirmed the importance of closer collaboration, innovation, and timely intelligence sharing to enhance collective responses to evolving security threats. He emphasized that these elements are crucial for effectively combating the complex and cross-border nature of modern crime.
The Operation Usalama Comprehensive Review Meeting serves as a platform for regional police chiefs and law enforcement officials to assess the outcomes of recent operations and to strategize for future initiatives. The operation is a key part of the regional security framework, involving the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation (EAPCCO) and the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO), with technical support from INTERPOL.
