SOUTH BEND, Indiana — A powerful wave of patriotism, emotion, and cultural pride is filling the ballroom in South Bend tonight as renowned Rwandan artist Ruti Joel delivers a moving live performance before members of the Rwandan diaspora. The event, hosted by the Rwandan Community of Midwest, has drawn Rwandans and friends of Rwanda together for an evening centered on unity, heritage, and national identity.

Attendees describe the atmosphere as deeply emotional and uplifting, with songs celebrating Rwanda’s history, resilience, and cultural roots resonating throughout the venue. As Ruti Joel performs, audience members are seen singing along, waving flags, and embracing one another in a moment that many say feels bigger than entertainment—it feels like home. Newly Elected USRCA President Herbert Mugume Diego was among the attendees.

The gathering is serving not only as a musical event, but also as a meaningful reminder of the enduring bond that connects Rwandans living abroad to their homeland. Through music, shared memories, and expressions of pride, the evening is reinforcing the importance of preserving language, values, and culture across generations in the diaspora.

Ruti Joel’s performance is being praised for its emotional depth and patriotic spirit, with many in attendance saying his music continues to inspire love for country and a strong sense of belonging. His presence on stage has transformed the ballroom into a space of reflection, joy, and celebration—where Rwanda’s story is being honored through every lyric and every voice joining in.
