KIGALI, Rwanda – June 12, 2026 – Hundreds of students, employers, education leaders, and industry professionals gathered at Camp Kigali for the Inter-University Career Fair and JobNet Conference, an event organized by East African University Rwanda (EAUR) in partnership with the City of Kigali. The conference was held under the theme “Empowering the Next Generation through Teaching, Leadership and Employability Landscape.”
The event aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the labor market by providing students with direct access to potential employers, career guidance, networking opportunities, and recruitment platforms.

Speaking during the conference, Prof. Calixte Kabera, Vice Chancellor of East African University Rwanda, said the university is committed to producing graduates who are highly competitive and needed in the job market because of the quality education and practical skills they receive.
Prof. Kabera emphasized that the career fair serves as an important platform where students can meet employers, build professional networks, and discover employment opportunities before completing their studies.
“Our goal is to graduate students who are ready for the labor market. Through the knowledge and skills we provide, they become valuable professionals sought by employers. Events like this help students connect directly with recruiters, making it easier for them to secure employment opportunities and internships,” he said.
The conference brought together representatives from various companies, institutions, and organizations, allowing students from different universities to interact with industry leaders and learn about the skills required in today’s competitive employment landscape.
Organizers noted that the event is designed to give students practical exposure to the world of work while creating opportunities for on-site interviews, internships, and future employment prospects. Similar career initiatives organized by EAUR have previously focused on helping students access the labor market through networking and direct engagement with employers.
Participants welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step in preparing young graduates for successful careers and strengthening collaboration between universities and the private sector.
The Inter-University Career Fair and JobNet Conference is expected to continue serving as a key platform for promoting employability, professional development, and youth empowerment in Rwanda.
