KIGALI — A fire broke out at the Gisozi Agakiriro in the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026, damaging some of the equipment and materials used at the craft and production center, The USA New Times has learned.
Rwanda Police in the City of Kigali responded promptly and began fighting the blaze. As of this morning, smoke was still visible at the site, and activities at the Agakiriro remained suspended.
The number of people affected and the cause of the fire had not yet been established by press time.
This is not the first time the Gisozi Agakiriro has been hit by fire and rescued by Rwanda Police—a fact that underscores the facility’s recurring vulnerability and the police’s continued emergency response role.
Operators and users of the center have expressed appreciation for Rwanda Police’s ongoing rescue efforts, which continued through the morning as authorities worked to fully contain the incident.
