Members of the Rwandan community in North Dakota, USA gathered at the Veterans Pavilion in Dickinson on Saturday, June 6, 2026, to participate in community leadership elections that marked an important step in strengthening representation, unity, and community development among Rwandans living in the state. The election brought together community members from across North Dakota to select a new leadership committee that will guide the community’s activities, initiatives, and engagement efforts in the coming years.

Following the voting process, Elisabeth Mutesi was elected President of the Rwandan community in North Dakota. Ester Mutoni was elected Vice President and will work closely with the president in advancing community programs and supporting organizational initiatives. Sandra Umutesi was elected Treasurer and will oversee financial matters related to community activities and initiatives. Hyacinthe Tuyishime was elected Mobilization Commissioner and will play a key role in engaging community members, encouraging participation in events and activities, and strengthening connections among Rwandans living throughout the state. Francoise Contente Icakanzu was elected Culture Commissioner and will be responsible for promoting and preserving Rwandan cultural heritage within the community.
