Washington, D.C. — The leadership of the United States Rwanda Community Abroad (USRCA) has officially announced the members of its newly elected executive team following a vote held during the organization’s annual leadership retreat in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
The election took place on March 8, 2026, bringing together community leaders and representatives from across the Rwandan diaspora in the United States. The gathering served as both a strategic planning session and a democratic forum where members selected the team that will guide the organization into its next chapter.
Although the newly elected officials will assume full leadership after the current administration’s term concludes in October 2026, the announcement marks an important step in ensuring continuity, stability, and long-term planning within the organization.

Following the vote, the following leaders were confirmed to serve in key positions:
- President: Herbert Mugume Diego

- Secretary General: Melissa Kaze Nshuti
- Treasurer: Sheba Hakiza
- Gender Commissioner: Jeannine Imfura
- Youth Commissioner: Eunice Karenzi
- Knowledge & Skills Transfer Commissioner: Pauline Makoma
- Mobilization Commissioner: Jacques Nyungura
The incoming team represents a diverse group of professionals and community advocates who have been actively involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening connections among Rwandans living across the United States.
Transition and Community Vision
In a message shared on behalf of the current USRCA Executive Team, members expressed their congratulations and support for the newly elected leaders, emphasizing the importance of unity and service within the diaspora.
The statement highlighted that the new team will have the responsibility of building on ongoing programs focused on community engagement, youth empowerment, gender equity, and knowledge exchange among Rwandans in the United States.
The transition period between now and October 2026 will allow the incoming leadership to work closely with the current administration, ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities and strategic priorities.
Strengthening the Rwandan Diaspora in the United States
USRCA has played a significant role in connecting Rwandan communities across the country, promoting cultural identity, professional networking, and collaboration with institutions both in the United States and Rwanda.
Community leaders attending the retreat noted that the organization continues to serve as a platform for diaspora engagement, leadership development, and knowledge transfer between generations.
The newly elected executive team is expected to focus on expanding these efforts, strengthening partnerships with regional community associations, and encouraging broader participation from Rwandans across the United States.
As the organization prepares for the official leadership transition later this year, members expressed optimism that the incoming team will help guide USRCA into a new phase of growth, unity, and community impact.
“We congratulate the new team and look forward to working together for the continued progress of our community,” the announcement concluded.
