TEXAS — July 11, 2025 — In the wake of a deadly flood disaster that has taken over 100 lives, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Texas on Friday to offer comfort to grieving families and show appreciation for the state’s emergency response teams.
The flooding, caused by days of relentless storms and overflowing rivers, has wreaked havoc across central Texas, leaving many communities underwater and residents displaced. President Trump was joined by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other local leaders during his visit to some of the worst-affected regions.
While speaking at a community roundtable with officials, survivors, and rescue workers, President Trump recounted how what he described as a “small river” turned into a “monster,” sweeping away homes and lives. He called the situation a heartbreaking catastrophe.
Emergency workers and volunteers received special recognition from the President, who praised their tireless and courageous efforts during the disaster. “This is what American spirit is all about,” Trump said. “In the middle of chaos, people stepped up.”
The First Lady offered heartfelt words to families who suffered losses, expressing solidarity and compassion. She comforted survivors and encouraged community resilience, saying, “You’re not alone—we mourn with you.”
The First Couple also visited shelters housing displaced residents and spoke with medical workers, National Guard members, and aid volunteers. The visit offered survivors a chance to share their stories directly with the nation’s leaders.
President Trump assured Texans that the federal government would provide long-term assistance, including infrastructure restoration, disaster relief funding, and housing support. “This isn’t just about recovery—it’s about building back better,” he said.
Accompanied by top federal emergency officials, Trump emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring Texas has every resource needed to heal and rebuild. FEMA confirmed that more federal teams and supplies are en route to assist with the continued recovery efforts.
Before departing, President Trump said, “Texas is strong, and with America behind it, it will rise from this stronger than ever.”
