More than 6,000 entrepreneurs from Tanzania and the United Kingdom have registered on the Tanzania Link Portal, a new digital platform designed to foster trade, investment, education, and tourism between the two nations.
Launched in April 2025 by Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi at a high-profile event in London, the initiative was founded by three UK-based Tanzanians—Mr. Goodluck Mboya, Mr. Joseph Ndilla, and Ms. Shivani Patel—to connect Tanzanian professionals, diaspora members, and British partners.
The portal serves as a hub for business partnerships, job placements, academic exchanges, and tourism promotion, with early users already exploring joint ventures and investment opportunities.
“We are enabling entrepreneurs to access direct investments, international trade, and career opportunities while providing guidance on legal and regulatory frameworks,” said Joseph Ndilla, Tanzania Link’s Director of Business. “The response has been tremendous—this is just the beginning.”
The launch drew key figures, including Tanzania’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki, and Zanzibar’s First Lady, Mama Mariam Mwinyi, signaling strong institutional support.
High Commissioner Kairuki emphasized the platform’s alignment with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s economic diplomacy agenda, stating:
“The High Commission fully endorses this initiative and will collaborate to ensure its success for Tanzanians and global partners.”
Goodluck Mboya, Director of Technology, described the portal as “a strategic bridge linking people, ideas, and capital.” Beyond business, it promotes tourism in Tanzania and Zanzibar, targeting UK travelers and investors.
With thousands onboarded in just two months, the founders aim to expand partnerships, particularly in agriculture, tech, and education. The platform also plans to host networking events in both countries to deepen engagement.
“This is a Tanzanian-led solution with global impact,” Mboya added. “We’re empowering our community to compete internationally.”
Why It Matters:
-
Economic Growth: Facilitates access to UK markets and investment for Tanzanian SMEs.
-
Diaspora Engagement: Connects overseas Tanzanians with home-based opportunities.
-
Tourism Boost: Showcases Tanzania’s attractions to UK audiences.
