Kigali, Rwanda — Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Kazarwa Gertrude, announced on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, that key issues to be addressed during upcoming visits across the country will include land disputes, housing and construction concerns, civil registry services, and digital government services.
The initiative, scheduled from May 28 to June 4 across Rwanda’s provinces and from June 7–8 in Kigali City, aims to assess critical services affecting citizens’ daily lives and ensure urgent concerns are resolved.
According to Deputy Kazarwa, land disputes remain one of the most pressing issues, with boundary conflicts often causing disputes between residents. “Various commissions have previously reported on this issue, and recommendations have been submitted to the Prime Minister’s office. Given its widespread nature, efforts are underway to implement a countrywide boundary correction plan to prevent further disputes,” she explained.
Deputies will engage with local leaders to discuss solutions and advocate for residents, while also providing direct advice to affected communities. “We will meet with citizens, guide them on resolving issues, and ensure local officials take necessary steps to assist them,” Kazarwa added.
Another focus will be the role of community assemblies in fostering peace and social stability. The deputies will assess the effectiveness of local mediators in resolving disputes and promoting unity within Rwandan families.
During these visits, citizens will receive guidance on proper channels for addressing concerns, as many cases could be resolved at lower administrative levels rather than escalating unnecessarily.
“These visits are designed to evaluate the progress made by decentralised governance structures in delivering quality services. Reports on unresolved issues will be submitted to relevant authorities, and where necessary, deputies will provide recommendations,” stated Kazarwa.
The initiative underscores the Rwandan Parliament’s constitutional role in overseeing government performance, promoting inclusive governance, and accelerating the implementation of national development goals under NST2 and Vision 2050.
In addition to addressing practical governance issues, the deputies will hold discussions with citizens on unity, resilience, dispute resolution, public service delivery, and the collective responsibility of Rwandans in driving national progress.
This strategic outreach effort aims to reinforce government accountability while ensuring citizens remain at the center of Rwanda’s development agenda.
