Los Angeles, CA — In response to a surge in theft and property damage, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced a state of local emergency and implemented a nightly curfew in the downtown area. The curfew, running from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., is aimed at curbing unlawful activities and protecting businesses from further harm.

Mayor Bass emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that numerous shops had suffered losses due to recent looting. “We need to act quickly to bring this under control and protect our communities,” she stated.

Local authorities confirmed that several commercial properties had been vandalized, with incidents escalating in recent days. The mayor called on residents to avoid downtown while law enforcement continues its response.
