At least 44 dead in new Israeli airstrikes, including attacks on a school and refugee camp, as humanitarian crisis worsens.

At least 44 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were killed in fresh Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip early Tuesday, according to the Palestinian Civil Defense. Local health officials, however, reported a higher death toll of at least 60.

The strikes targeted multiple locations, including a school sheltering displaced civilians in Gaza City, residential homes in Deir el-Balah, a gas station near the Nusseirat refugee camp, and a house in Jabalia refugee camp. Rescue teams struggled to retrieve bodies and treat the wounded amid the rubble.

Escalating Military Campaign
Israel has expanded its military offensive across Gaza, aiming to dismantle Hamas and recover hostages taken during the militant group’s October 7, 2023, attack. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Monday that Israeli forces would take “control of the entire territory,” as fighting intensified.

Limited Aid Amid Starvation Warnings
Under international pressure, Israel allowed a small number of aid trucks into Gaza on Monday—marking a slight easing of its near-total blockade. However, humanitarian groups dismissed the move as insufficient, with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) calling it “window dressing” while two million Gazans face starvation.

The World Health Organization condemned the obstruction of food and medical supplies, as global leaders—including France’s Emmanuel Macron, Britain’s Keir Starmer, and Canada’s Mark Carney—warned they would not “stand by” in the face of Israel’s actions.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the latest strikes.
