The Chief of Staff of the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, and his counterpart from the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA), Major General Zépherin Mamadou, carried out a joint field visit to the Rwandan bilateral forces deployed in Bimbo, a key strategic zone near the capital, Bangui.
This visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen military cooperation between Rwanda and the Central African Republic, and to evaluate the status, readiness, and morale of the troops working under the bilateral agreement signed between both governments.
While addressing the troops, Major General Nyakarundi commended their dedication and discipline in maintaining peace and stability in a volatile environment. He emphasized RDF’s long-standing commitment to supporting peace operations and protecting civilians in the Central African Republic.
Major General Mamadou, on his part, expressed gratitude for the professional conduct and effectiveness of the Rwandan troops, noting their vital role in joint operations and community security. He reaffirmed FACA’s commitment to deepening military cooperation and learning from Rwanda’s peacekeeping experience.
The joint visit included inspection of operational facilities, briefings from commanders on the ground, and interactions with soldiers to understand their needs and challenges.
Rwanda maintains both UN-mandated peacekeepers (under MINUSCA) and a separate bilateral deployment in Central African Republic, reflecting its regional leadership in peacekeeping and its strong defense diplomacy.
The visit was widely seen as a gesture of solidarity and a strategic step toward enhanced military collaboration between the two nations.
