Washington DC – Rwanda’s ambassador to the United States, Mathilde Mukantabana, has hosted Susan Hollern, her family and partners of Hope Haven Christian School, highlighting the contribution of educational partnerships to relations between the two countries.

In a social media statement accompanying photographs of the gathering, Mukantabana praised the visitors’ commitment to education in Rwanda and described their work as an example of how personal relationships can strengthen international friendship.

“Their dedication to education in Rwanda shows the power of people-to-people ties,” she wrote.

A Partnership Built Around Education

The gathering brought attention to Hope Haven’s work with Rwandan students and families. The organisation identifies Hollern as its founder and president and operates Hope Haven Christian School in Kigali.

According to its published information, Hope Haven educates more than 2,000 students and employs over 250 staff. Its educational approach combines academic instruction with Christian teaching, supported by a leadership team overseeing education, family engagement and school operations.

These activities give international cooperation a practical setting: classrooms, relationships with families and the daily work of supporting children’s education.

Friendship Beyond Formal Diplomacy

Mukantabana’s message placed community connections at the centre of the encounter. Her remarks linked the partners’ educational commitment with lasting friendships between Rwanda and the United States.

The meeting illustrates how relationships between countries also develop through sustained personal and family involvement. Educational partnerships connect teachers, families and supporters across national boundaries through a shared commitment to students.

By recognising Hollern and the school’s partners, the ambassador drew attention to the individuals and families whose continued participation helps sustain different missions and activities.

Recognition of an Existing Commitment

The ambassador’s statement focused on appreciation for the visitors and their contribution to education.

The gathering offered public recognition of an established partnership. Mukantabana’s message presented the school’s work as a tangible expression of Rwanda–US citizens friendship, grounded in educational opportunity and relationships between communities.
