Rwanda and Cyprus have signed an Air Services Agreement (ASA), marking a new step in efforts to strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, during talks between Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, and Cyprus Foreign Minister Dr. Constantinos Kombos.
The agreement is expected to provide a framework for greater cooperation in air transport between Rwanda and Cyprus while strengthening broader ties between the two countries.
Minister Kombos said his discussions with Nduhungirehe focused on ways to further develop relations between Cyprus and Rwanda across various sectors, as well as regional issues of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, Nduhungirehe thanked his Cypriot counterpart for what he described as productive discussions that highlighted additional opportunities for relations and cooperation between the two countries.
“Thank you for the good discussions, which revealed further opportunities for relations and cooperation between Cyprus and Rwanda,” Nduhungirehe said in a post on X.
The signing of the Air Services Agreement represents another step in the growing relationship between Rwanda and Cyprus, with both sides exploring opportunities for deeper cooperation.
Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, with Nicosia as its capital. It is located south of Türkiye, with the Mediterranean Sea surrounding much of the island.
