BEIJING — Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit the United States from September 23 to 25, 2026, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
The visit, confirmed by Beijing on Monday, September 21, will mark the second meeting between Xi and Trump in 2026, following weeks of speculation that the two leaders would hold another face to face meeting.
Although the visit had been widely expected, Chinese authorities had not formally confirmed it until Monday’s announcement.
The upcoming talks come as China and the United States remain two of the world’s most influential economic and geopolitical powers, with their bilateral relations closely watched internationally.
China’s Foreign Ministry described the visit as an important engagement in relations between Beijing and Washington, following a series of discussions between officials from the two countries.
The meeting will also build on the leaders’ earlier engagement this year.
Trump visited Beijing in May 2026, where he was hosted by Xi Jinping. It was Trump’s first visit to China during his second presidential term.
During that visit, the two leaders discussed issues including trade, security and broader relations between the United States and China.
Xi’s September visit is expected to draw significant international attention as Washington and Beijing continue to engage on issues affecting their bilateral relationship and the wider global economy.
