The Israeli security agency urgently evacuated the Prime Minister’s eldest son from Miami due to a threat, which his father has linked to Iran.
Israel’s Shin Bet security agency confirmed on Sunday that it had urgently evacuated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s eldest son, Yair Netanyahu, from the United States due to a significant threat to his life .
In a brief statement, the Shin Bet confirmed the existence of a “significant threat” to Yair Netanyahu, leading to a situation assessment and an immediate decision to extract him and his security team back to Israel . The agency did not elaborate on the specific nature of the threat .
However, Prime Minister Netanyahu had indicated the severity of the situation in a recent interview with Israeli Channel 14, stating that Iran had tried to assassinate one of his sons. “Something unimaginable is happening here. Iran has set its sights on one of my sons. Iran tried to kill him tried to kill one of my sons,” Netanyahu said . His office declined to comment further on Sunday .
Yair Netanyahu, 35, had been residing in Miami since 2023 and remained out of the country for most of the period while Israel was engaged in wars in Gaza, Lebanon, and against Iran . His extended stay in the U.S. had previously drawn criticism in Israel, particularly after hundreds of thousands of Israeli reservists were called up following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack .
